Message Protector is a browser extension for Chrome that makes it easy for users to encrypt a sensitive message for a given email address so that only someone who can access the email account is able to read the message. Message Protector is a Master’s thesis project in the Internet Security Research Lab (ISRL) at Brigham Young University. MP is for research purposes only. Security: MP operates a key server that automatically gives the user of an email account an encryption key that can be used to send an encrypted message to another email account. Messages are encrypted using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), a U.S. government standard for symmetric encryption.
